Recommended to improve safety and reduce chances for fire due to short circuit. Works on principal of temperature rise and subsequent melting of metal. Fires normally happen due to short circuit , Active and passive fire protection comes to effect after fire happens, the fore starts due to short circuit generated arch, 3M Scotch 77 can withstand 75 arch’s with 50% overlap and 145 arch with 2 layers of 50% overlap. Thus it prevents arch to convert to fire but during this process the metal melts and joint dislocates , thus chances of fire due to short circuit reduces.
